1944 UNION PACIFIC 4-6-6-4 CHALLENGER STEAM LOCOMOTIVE BUILDER PLATE #3944 RARE. Construction number 72806 from October 1944 American Locomotive Company, off of Union Pacific “Challenger” 4-6-6-4 engine #3944. The plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a casting flaw on the back that is raised and can be felt. It is not cracked and does not show on the front of the plate. A spectacular engine, this one was converted to oil in 1952, and was part of the very last class of Challengers for the UP from 4664-5, the beefiest of the bunch and was used over the Wasatch Mountains between Green River and Ogden!
