Carl was a prolific collector and a well respected member of the railroadiana community and Western Railroad Americana is honored to be handling his lifetime collection of railroad lanterns. We look forward to hopefully helping you add one of his prized railroad lanterns to your collection so Carl’s legacy can live on. To learn more about Carl, please click HERE.
We realize a lot of these railroad lanterns have been off the market for many years and we wanted to give all of our customers a fair chance in acquiring one of these railroad lanterns for their collection. After speaking with our customers and getting some feedback we have decided to handle the sale in the following manner. We hope this method is satisfactory with everyone and everyone feels like they are getting a fair chance. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us directly.
The sale/auction starts April 6th at 10 a.m. mountain time. The sale will be an auction format for the first 96 hours. During this timeframe, please request any additional photos you may want, ask questions via phone or email, and complete the BID FORM below. You can submit your bids via the form below, phone, or email. Which ever is most convenient for you. It is important you include all the lanterns you are interested in purchasing so you receive a call back. If you don’t let us know which railroad lanterns you are interested in, you will NOT receive a call back.

The 96 hour period ends April 10th at 10 a.m. mountain time. Once the 96 hour period expires we will begin the call back process. If there are multiple people interested in the same railroad lantern the only fair option is to sell the railroad lantern to the highest bidder. Starting on April 10th we will let everyone know what the status is of the railroad lantern/lanterns they would like to purchase and if they are in a bidding situation with another collector. If there is a bidding situation, we will accept bids in $25 increments. Everyone gets a call back and the bidding will continue until the other person bows out. Please help us complete this part quickly by being accessible via phone or email. If only one person is interested in a railroad lantern then the call back will be simple and the transaction completed.
After April 10th at 10:00 a.m. mountain time the sale format will begin. The railroad lanterns that are left will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The website will be updated and sold railroad lanterns marked accordingly.
There are no buyers premiums. These are cash prices. Feeless payment services, cashier’s checks, personal checks if we know you, or cash are acceptable payment methods. If you want to pay with a credit card, then there is a 3.5% fee added to the total purchase price.
Shipping and insurance is billed at actual. We will contact you to finalize the sale and provide a total.
